 CM meets PM, seeks funds for Amaravati & Polavaram

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat during his visit to New Delhi on Saturday.
The Chief Minister brought several important issues to the attention of the Prime Minister and the Union Ministers. Some issues were discussed in individual meetings. During his meeting with the Prime Minister, Naidu expressed gratitude for the announcements regarding Andhra Pradesh in the Union Budget.
In an earlier meeting with the PM, the Chief Minister had requested intervention on several matters and appealed for early action on issues including the Polavaram project. Naidu also requested that a proposal related to the release of funds for the Polavaram project be passed in the forthcoming Cabinet meeting. “This will aid in utilising the construction period effectively and enable early completion of the project,” he informed the Prime Minister.
The Chief Minister requested the early release of multilateral support, as indicated in the annual budget, to kick-start works in Amaravati. Naidu reiterated the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act and requested Special Assistance for Capital Investment (SACI) to undertake various capital projects in Andhra Pradesh, as well as Backward Region Grant funds. He also reiterated the request for the release of funds under the Backward Region Grant to support development in Rayalaseema, Prakasam, and North Coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh, and urged the Prime Minister for funds to support industrial incentives for the growth of the industrial ecosystem in the state.
During the meeting with Amit Shah, various pending issues related to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act were discussed. Both leaders expressed their commitment to the development of Andhra Pradesh and to strengthening the NDA Government to meet the aspirations of the people of the state.
In his meeting with Nirmala Sitharaman, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the announcements regarding Andhra Pradesh in the Union Budget. Discussions also centred on structuring multilateral financial assistance for Amaravati Capital City. Naidu reiterated his request for the release of funds under the Backward Region Grant to support development in Rayalaseema, Prakasam, and North Coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh. Both leaders also discussed the release of funds for capital works under SACI.
In his meeting with C.R. Patil, Minister of Jal Shakti, Naidu requested that, in light of the report from the panel of experts appointed by the Government of India, the Union Minister direct the officers of the Government of India to coordinate with the State Government officers to finalise the right contractual arrangements for the early and safe completion of the diaphragm wall and other project components. Additionally, the officers of the Central Water Commission (CWC) were requested to expedite approval of methodologies for the construction of the diaphragm wall, ECRF Dam, and associated works.
