CM seeks Central support for Housing, Metro, Musi projects

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has appealed to the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, to allocate 20 lakh houses to Telangana under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 scheme.
During a review meeting in Hyderabad, the CM stressed that Telangana constitutes 8% of the country’s urban population and is ready with comprehensive data and plans to implement the housing scheme efficiently.
Revanth urged the Union Minister to approve the detailed project reports (DPRs) for six corridors identified under Metro Phase-II expansion which will cost Rs 24,269 crore.
The corridors are Corridor IV: Nagole to Shamshabad International Airport (36.8 km), Corridor V: Raidurgam to Kokapet Neopolis (11.6 km), Corridor VI: MGBS to Chandrayangutta (7.5 km), Corridor VII: Miyapur to Patancheru (13.4 km), Corridor VIII: LB Nagar to Hayathnagar (7.1 km) and Corridor IX: Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to Fourth City (Skill University) (40 km)
He requested the Central Government to partner with the state under a joint venture model to allocate funds for the project.
The CM emphasized the urgent need for financial support for the Musi Riverfront Development Project. Proposing a budget of Rs 10,000 crore, he explained that the funds would be utilized to construct 110 km of canals, box drains and sewage treatment plants (STPs) to prevent sewage inflow into the river. He also sought assistance for a comprehensive drainage system in Hyderabad and 27 adjoining urban local bodies, for which a Rs 17,212 crore Comprehensive Sewerage Management Plan (CSMP) has already been prepared.
Revanth sought Central assistance for the development of Warangal, the second-largest city in Telangana. He requested Rs 4,170 crore for the city’s underground drainage system, which has been included in the master plan. Additionally, he urged the Union Minister to allocate one lakh solar pumps under the PM Kusum scheme to provide uninterrupted irrigation water to tribal farmers.
The CM also requested 2,500 MW of solar capacity under the Kusum-C FLSS component and sought funds for strengthening the power infrastructure in Telangana by submitting nine project reports worth Rs 488 crore to the Centre for approval.
Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar congratulated CM Revanth Reddy for securing Rs 1.78 lakh crore worth investments for Telangana. Revanth reiterated his vision of making Telangana a $1 trillion economy in alignment with the Prime Minister’s goal of a $5 trillion national economy.
