Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch distribution of free tabs for 4,34,185 Class VIII students of government and aided schools across the State at a programme in Chintapalli, Alluri Sitarama Raju district, on Thursday. The tabs contain Byju’s preloaded content and cost Rs 619.87 crore.
Every 8th class student gets a benefit of Rs 33,000, a tab worth Rs 17,500 and content worth Rs 15,500. Including the 4,34,185 tablets being provided on Thursday, the State government has so far provided 9,52,925 tablets at a cost of Rs 1,305.74 crore to students studying in the 8th grade and their teachers.
The Jagan government is providing tablets to 8th class students with Byju’s content for 8th, 9th, and 10th classes so that students can use them even when they move to higher classes. Now, the government is increasing the memory card capacity of the tablets to 256 GB so that the content for 11th and 12th classes can also be accommodated in the tabs.
The Byju’s content worth Rs 15,500, which is currently being provided free of cost to students from 4th to 10th class, will now be provided to students of 11th and 12th class as well. This will benefit about 34.3 lakh students.
Taking steps towards digital mode of Education, schools are being provided with Interactive Flat Panels with Byju’s content and SCERT e-content which can work in both online and offline mode in over 62,000 Digital classrooms of 6th-10th classes.
Taking steps towards providing 45,000 Smart TVs one for each school having 1st to 5th classes. Steps to provide Fiber/Brad Brand Internet service to more than 45,000 Upper Primary and High Schools to provide digital infrastructure.
