Declaring that retaining power is not the task before the BRS but winning more seats than in the 2018 elections is, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said the BRS won 63 seats in the first elections, 88 seats in the second and that he is confident the BRS will exceed 100 seats this time.
KCR warned sitting MLAs that they have to work carefully or else will lose. He said that he would be helpless if sitting MLAs failed to perform. “Tickets will be given to sitting MLAs only if they are effective,” he said.
KCR said that some BRS MLAs are taking money from the beneficiaries of the Dalit Bandhu and double-bedroom house schemes. Some BRS MLAs have taken almost Rs 3 lakh from the beneficiaries of Dalit Bandhu, KCR said.
“I have their list. This is the last warning to them. Tickets will not be given to those MLAs if they repeat it. The party would also suspend such MLAs. MLAs will be held responsible if their followers collect money from Dalit Bandhu beneficiaries,” KCR said.
He said that two leaders from each Assembly constituency have to take responsibility from the government side. The leaders have to mingle with people, KCR said and asked MLAs to reduce the unhappiness among BRS cadres and increase communication with the public.
Addressing the BRS general body meeting at the Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, KCR said that elections will be held as per schedule. Making it clear that the BRS will win the next elections, KCR said that “elections should be not by chance but by choice.”
He said the party will give TV advertisements, take up film production and will run a TV channel if the need arises to take the message of the BRS to the people.
KCR said that the Telangana state was achieved in a political way. “With the achievement of a separate Telangana state, we have been able to inform the country that anything can be achieved through democracy,” KCR said making it clear that the BRS will move forward with the slogan ‘Ab Ki Baar Kisan Sarkar.’
He asked the agriculture department to create awareness among farmers to complete harvesting before unseasonal rains. The CM made it clear that the government will procure corn and jowar in the way they were procured in the past and said that he will issue orders to Markfed regarding this.
The Chief Minister said that there were unused government lands in some villages and asked MLAs to give the survey numbers of those lands to his office. The lands will be distributed for the construction of houses if found suitable, he said.
Criticising the Maharashtra government’s argument that it will go bankrupt if it implements TS schemes, KCR asked the Maha government to reveal why Telangana is not bankrupt.
KCR said that the GST revenue was Rs 34,000 crore before 2021-22, but the estimated revenue is Rs 44,000 crore. He said that Telangana achieved progress in all sectors like power, roads, crop procurement, agriculture, livestock and fisheries.
He expressed happiness that Maharashtra people are coming to Telangana on their own to see the changes.
KCR said the per capita electricity consumption in Telangana is the highest in the country and that Telangana has surpassed Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu in per capita income. He said that investments are coming as Ministers work transparently.
He said that the per capita income of AP is only Rs 2,19,518 and that it is Rs 1 lakh less than that of Telangana. There are 16 or 17 states which have a lesser per capita income than Telangana.
