District Collector Nishanth Kumar has assured farmers of procuring all the paddy produce. All arrangements have been made for the purpose, he added.
The Collector held a meeting with the rice millers and lorry owners association representatives here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the paddy yields are estimated at 3.23 lakh metric tonnes in the Manyam district. The farmers could sell their paddy produce at the 185 paddy procurement centres which were set up across the district. The Collector asked the farmers not to sell their paddy produce less than the MSP.
Collector Nishant Kumar warned of taking action against the traders if they purchased paddy produce from the farmers at a cheaper price. They directed the officials to create awareness among the volunteers on paddy procurement to allay the doubts of farmers on selling their paddy produce.
The first ten days in the paddy procurement are crucial; the Collector said and directed the officials to make the required preparations for the paddy purchase. He asked the civil supplies, transport, Velugu, and agriculture department officials to work in a coordinated manner on paddy purchase.
The Collector warned of taking stringent action against those who spread rumors and fears about the paddy procurement and asked the farmers not to trust rumours.
