In view of heavy rains in the region, District Collector K Shashanka has issued an urgent directive to the officials to evacuate residents in the low-lying areas of Osman Nagar to safer places. During a visit to the affected areas on Monday, the Collector emphasised the importance of immediate action to protect the lives and well-being of the residents.
The Collector instructed the officials concerned to ensure that the relocation of residents is carried out promptly and that measures are taken to prevent contamination of water tanks, which serve as critical sources of clean water.
To safeguard public health, he also ordered the organisation of medical camps in the evacuated areas. The camps will provide necessary healthcare, while preventive measures such as the application of bleaching powder and chlorination will be taken up to prevent the spread of diseases.
The Collector directed medical teams to be on high alert and ensured that primary health centers are stocked with essential medicines.
In addition to addressing the immediate flood-related concerns, Shashanka inspected the route for the upcoming Balapur Ganesha procession. He reviewed the ongoing cement concrete road works along the procession route and instructed that the work be completed within two to three days. Furthermore, he called for the installation of street lights and the enhancement of sanitation efforts to ensure a safe and orderly event.
Key officials, including Maheshwaram ACP Laxmikant Reddy, Jal Pally Municipal Commissioner Vanireddy, and the Assistant Executive Engineer of the Irrigation Department, along with other municipal staff members accompanied the Collector.
