District Collector M Venugopal Reddy inspected the milk procurement centres and bulk milk cooling centres at Gorijavolu village in Pedanandipadu mandal and other villages on Saturday.
The Collector, accompanied by Joint Collector G Rajakumari, inspected the milk procurement centres and bulk cooling units and interacted with the dairy farmers.
The Collector also inspected the milk procurement centre set up at Village Secretariat 3 in Prathipadu and talked to the farmers who were selling milk. He asked the farmers how much they were being paid per litre. The farmers told the Collector that they were being paid Rs.60 per litre. The Collector later inspected the milk collection centre in Girijavolugunta Palem.
The Collector asked the dairy farmers how much they used to get per litre previously and how much they are getting now. The farmers told the Collector they used to be paid Rs 41 per litre previously and now they are being paid Rs 60 per litre.
On the occasion, Collector Venugopal Reddy directed the panchayat secretaries, MPDOs and special officers to pay special attention to resolving the technical problems of the dairy farmers.
The Collector directed the panchayat secretaries and village volunteers to create awareness among the registered farmers to supply milk to the milk collection centres.
The Collector also ordered the Joint Director of the Animal Husbandry Department to check the milk testing machines and bill generating machines to ensure there are no technical problems, provide receipts to the farmers from time to time and provide proper training to the staff working in the milk collection centres.
The Collector said that the state government set up BMCs with the intention of providing income to the farmers, as a result of which the farmers get a profit of Rs.20 per litre.
Deputy CEO of ZP J Mohan Rao, Animal Husbandry Department JD Venkateshwarlu and other officials were among those who accompanied the Collector.
