Collector inspects tribal residential school

District Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh inspected the tribal residential school and inaugurated the digital library on Thursday at Jangareddygudem.
The Collector inspected the school, mid-day meal and formally inaugurated the digital library established at a cost of Rs 10 lakh. The digital library was established under the CSR on the premises of ZP high school.
Speaking on the occasion, Collector Prasanna Venkatesh said that libraries help children to improve their knowledge through self-study, adding that having a quiet atmosphere in the library would help the students to pay attention to reading the book and thus they gain better knowledge.
He observed that in today’s society, students are getting used to mobile phones and TVs and efforts are being made to shift them from these to reading in the library.
“Digital libraries are being set up in six areas of Eluru district with CSR funds. A digital library is being set up on the campus of Kotadibba government Degree College at a cost of Rs 40 lakh and at a cost of Rs 10 lakh in the remaining five places,” the Collector added.
Two digital libraries were set up in two schools in Eluru which are functioning now, the Collector said, stating that quality furniture, priority books and a good environment were provided to the libraries. Collector Venkatesh exhorted the students to use and improve general knowledge through libraries.
Giving information on the food poison incident in the boys hostel at Jeelugumilli, Joint Collector B Lavanya Veni said that the food samples were sent to the laboratory for examination. The hostel wardens must stay in the hostels themselves during the night, she said and warned of action if any hostel warden found not staying in hostels.  Municipal chairperson D Nagalakshmi, ZPTC P Babji and DEO S Abraham were among those present.
