In a crucial step towards improving the lives of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), District Collector Nishant Kumar led the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Jati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN) programme in Panukuvalasa village on Saturday.
Recognising the historical marginalisation of PVTGs, Kumar emphasised the Central government’s dedication to their development through PM JANMAN. He announced a mission to ensure 100% registration of PVTGs in various government schemes, opening doors to a range of benefits.
Specifically, the collector highlighted the opportunity of free gas connections under the
Ujjwala Yojana, with 12 cylinders per year at a 30% discount. With 10,000 sanctioned connections already and a target of 80,000, this initiative promises to make a significant impact. Kumar further encouraged PVTGs to take advantage of other schemes like Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Suraksha Bima Yojana, PM Kisan, Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, and Atal Pension Yojana.
President’s awardee Manchala Paramma emphasised the need for concessions through ITDA and a tribal culture museum. Panchayat Sarpanch Ch Sitaram Krishna lauded the provision of 160 Podu Pattas and requested infrastructure development, Gadabalas recognition, and a cashew nut industry. Beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the PM Ujjwala Yojana and other programs, highlighting the positive change these initiatives have brought to their lives and livelihoods.
Government departments actively participated in the event, setting up exhibitions to showcase various schemes and provide clarity on their implementation. The aim was to not only raise awareness but also facilitate registrations and empower PVTGs with knowledge about the resources available to them.
