District Collector Dasari Hari Chandana on Sunday made it clear that the Model Code of Conduct came into force on Saturday.
Explaining the salient features of the Model Code of Conduct to media here on Sunday, she said that a gazette notification would be issued on April 18. The last date for filing nominations is April 25. Their scrutiny of nominations would take place on April 26 and withdrawals would come to end on April 29.
The Lok Sabha polls in Telangana would be held on May 13 and counting of votes would take place across the nation on June 4.
In all, 1,776 polling booths have been set up in the district. The district administration has proposed to set up 46 auxiliary polling booths. Besides, 30 special polling booths, 30 women’s polling stations and six polling stations would be set up. Similarly, another six polling stations would be set up with persons with disabilities.
There are 14.9 lakh voters, including 7.54 lakh female votes in the district. There are 52,000 newly registered voters.
As the schedule for election was announce, election expenses would come into force from Sunday onwards. The political parties should not take out election rallies, meetings without the permission of authorities. SST and VST teams have been constituted for the smooth conduct of the elections.
She appealed to the political parties and general public to cooperate with the authorities in smooth conduct of the elections. Complaints regarding the elections should be lodged with authorities through cVigil mobile application by calling 1950.
In all, 20 nodal teams have been constituted to facilitate free and fair elections.
A plan has been prepared to beef up security to maintain law and order during the elections, she said.
