Collector, SP inaugurate ‘Jan Maitri’ sports competition

District Collector Adarsh Surabhi and District Superintendent of Police Giridhar Rao stated that sports would play a significant role in fostering a friendly atmosphere between the police and the people. On Monday, at the SP office ground, a sports competition named ‘Jan Maitri’ was inaugurated by the District Collector Adarsh Surabhi and SP Giridhar Rao on the occasion of the Sankranti festival. It was organised by the police department. As a symbol of peace, pigeons and balloons were released into the air. Volleyball and badminton competitions took place.
The Collector and SP also participated in cricket and volleyball games.
During the event, Collector Adarsh Surabhi mentioned that sports are highly beneficial in creating a friendly atmosphere between the police and the public.
He emphasised that sports not only help in maintaining physical health but also mental health. He advised the youth to participate in sports during their holidays to avoid getting involved in other negative activities.
He also highlighted that sports help in preventing diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure. Therefore, he urged everyone to participate in sports.
SP Giridhar Rao stated that people should not be afraid of the police and that the police treat the public in a friendly manner.  He emphasised that people can approach the police without fear.
Additional Collector Sanchit Gangwar, AR Additional SP Veera Reddy, DSPs Venkateswara Rao and Uma Maheswara Rao, District Youth Sports Officer Sudheer Reddy, police personnel, athletes and other officials were present.
