Collector, Whip distribute tabs to students

Collector P Prashanthi and government Whip Grandhi Srinivas distributed Tablet PCs to some of the students at a programme held here on Thursday.
Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the distribution of Tablet PCs to 4,34,185 students in the state at a programme held in Chintapalli in ASR district on Thursday. The government has launched the distribution of Tab PCs to the students of eighth class by spending Rs 620 crore.
On the occasion a programme was organized on the premises of PMS girls high school here on Thursday in which Collector Prashanth, Whip Grandhi Srinivas and MLC K Srinivas distributed Tabs to some students.
Speaking on the occasion, Whip Grandhi Srinivas appealed to the people to observe the reforms being brought by the government in various sectors. As part of bolstering the education sector, the government is providing tablet PCs at free of cost to the eighth class students.
Regretting that the erstwhile rulers had made education as expensive, Whip Srinivas said poverty would be an obstacle for education to the students of the poor.
In order to provide education to all the poor, the government is paying fees under the fee reimbursement scheme and made education available to all the poor, he claimed. Previously the poor were unable to pursue engineering education but now they are able to pursue the same due to the help being provided by the government, Whip Srinivas highlighted.
The government is implementing flagship schemes including ‘Amma Vodi’, ‘English education’ and modernization of schools under ‘Nadu Nedu’, he asserted. The Whip exhorted the students to excel in the education by utilizing the facilities being provided by the government to reach heights in their lives.
Collector Prashanthi said that Tablet PCs distribution began today coinciding the birthday of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. MLC K Srinivas also spoke. RDO K Srinivasulu Raju, DEO R Venkataramana and DYEO D Sriram and municipal Commissioner M Shyamala were among those who were present.
