Chief Secretary KS Jawahar Reddy has issued directives to all District Collectors and Police Officers, emphasising the need to complete arrangements for the upcoming
general elections in the State. The Chief Secretary conducted a comprehensive review of the preparations for the elections during a video conference held at the Secretariat on Thursday, where he engaged with the state Director General of Police (DGP) and senior
officials from various departments and district collectors.
During the review, attention was drawn to the department-wise establishment of polling stations, with a firm directive to conclude all related tasks by January 25. Special
emphasis was placed on the numerous polling stations situated in schools under the jurisdiction of the School Education, Higher Education, Municipal Administration, Tribal Welfare, and Social Welfare departments, as well as panchayat buildings and Anganwadi centres.

The Chief Secretary stressed the importance of proper construction of ramps at all polling centres and instructed that essential amenities such as electricity, lights, fans, furniture, drinking water, and toilets should be arranged well in advance.
In addition to polling arrangements, the Chief Secretary, along with DGP KV Rajendranath Reddy, addressed various issues during the video conference.
Topics included strategies to combat illegal liquor activities, reinforcement of police presence, establishment of check posts, expedited resolution of pending cases, and timely filing of charge sheets related to such cases.
It was suggested that police checkposts be established at key centres, especially along the border states, accompanied by the deployment of substantial police forces.
DGP Rajendranath Reddy elaborated on the measures undertaken by the police department to ensure the peaceful conduct of the general elections.
The video conference also witnessed the participation of Additional CEO Harindra Prasad, Additional DG (Law and Order) S Bagchi, Commissioner of School Education Suresh Kumar, SEB Director M Ravi Prakash, and all District Collectors, among others.
