Cong asks CEO to postpone counting in C’Gutta & Charminar

Must read

The Congress filed a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on Friday requesting him to postpone the counting of votes in Chandrayangutta and Charminar Assembly constituencies till all the CCTV cameras are checked to rule out irregularities. The Congress said that AIMIM workers engaged in large-scale bogus voting and rigging in these two constituencies.
TPCC Senior Vice-President G. Niranjan said in his letter, “As we mentioned in Thursday’s letter AIMIM workers engaged in rigging and bogus voting in Chandrayangutta, Charminar and Bahadurpura constituencies. Congress candidates and workers were attacked by AMIM workers. A tense atmosphere was created and no other party agents except those of AIMIM were allowed to enter polling stations. In the absence of other party agents, bogus voting and rigging took place on a large scale as per AIMIM directions. The authorities were unable to control violent AIMIM workers. We have requested the checking of all web and CCTV cameras kept in polling booths in these constituencies to book the culprits. We request the ECI to postpone counting in the above constituencies till all the web and CCTV cameras are checked to find out how rigging and bogus voting took place.
We also request the ECI to order re-polling in these constituencies. This is necessary to ensure a free and fair poll to save democracy.”
