Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday came down heavily on the previous BRS government for depriving the youth of jobs. He was laying the foundation stone for a high-level bridge over Somanna Vagu and several rural roads at Pagidimarri village. The Minister criticised the previous BRS, stating that there were no jobs for the unemployed and no houses for the poor during its regime. He emphasised that upon coming to power, the Congress government provided jobs to 11,000 people through the District Selection Committee (DSC).
He mentioned that the Srisailam Left Bank (SLBC) tunnel works would commence in two months, and various development projects have already begun in the district with an investment of Rs 600 crore through the Road and Board department. He assured that the Rs 2 lakh loan waiver would be completed soon.
The minister laid the foundation for the bridge and roads with an expenditure of Rs 38 crore. He alleged that there has been no substantial development in nine years under the BRS government and pointed out that there is no evidence of double-bedroom houses being provided to the poor. He claimed that once the Congress party came to power, it started focussing on developmental and welfare activities. He noted that KCR has not attended the Assembly sessions even once, despite there were sessions so far.
