The Congress went on alert in view of the scheduled vote counting on Sunday. AICC leader Rahul Gandhi held a virtual meeting with Congress candidates and the party’s senior leaders on Saturday and gave suggestions to them.
Rahul made it clear to Congress candidates not to come out from counting centres till the counting is completely over. He also directed AICC observers to stay at their allocated places at the counting centres and to inform the state Congress leadership if there was any trouble at the counting centres. He also directed party candidates on the steps to be taken during counting.
The State Congress leadership directed party candidates to come to Hyderabad on Sunday morning after getting information that KCR would try to contact Congress candidates. However, Rahul asked the TPCC leadership not to ask party candidates to come to Hyderabad as that would send the wrong signal that the party doubts the loyalty of its candidates.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shiva Kumar, Electricity Minister KJ George and others are coming to Hyderabad on Saturday at 11.30 pm. The Karnataka leaders will watch the counting from the Taj Krishna Hotel on Sunday. Some AICC leaders would also come to Hyderabad on Sunday morning, it is learnt.
