Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed the Civil Supplies Department officials to take all necessary measures to control the prices of essential commodities. He held a detailed review meeting on civil supplies, agriculture, and marketing at his Vundavalli residence, attended by Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar and officials from all three departments.
The Chief Minister focused on demand and supply, instructing officials to ensure that the burden of rising prices does not fall on consumers. He emphasised the importance of preventing price hikes rather than merely trying to reduce them after they occur, calling for regular reviews by the three departments.
Nadendla Manohar and the officials briefed the Chief Minister on the measures already initiated to bring essential prices under control. Chandrababu Naidu directed them to consider importing essential commodities to meet growing demand and inquired about long-term strategies to address the issue.
Officials informed the Chief Minister about various essential items available at Rythu Bazars across the state at reasonable prices and the special counters established in different regions to meet demand. The Minister for Agriculture, Kinjerapu Atchennaidu, and Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad attended the meeting virtually.
The Chief Minister stated that the Vigilance wing should play a crucial role in controlling prices and that stringent actions should be taken against those engaged in black marketing of essentials. He also noted that justice can be served to consumers and farmers by utilising godowns on a large scale and urged officials to take necessary steps to provide relief to the public from rising prices.
