Police, acting on the directives of DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, conducted extensive cordon & search operations at approximately 502 locations across the State in anticipation of the vote counting scheduled for June 4.
The operations yielded notable results, including the seizure of a country-made gun, 46 litres of NPDL liquor, and the apprehension of 23 individuals. Furthermore, 2,602 vehicles lacking proper documentation were impounded during the operation, and an additional 307 litres of liquor and 93,000 litres of fermented Jaggery wash were seized. From May 24 to 27 noon, seven individuals were served 41 A CrPC notices.
These ongoing cordon and search operations, supervised by district SPs, are aimed at upholding law and order, curbing criminal activities, and deterring unruly behaviour across the state. The meticulous inspections span various locations, including key intersections, village peripheries, residences of suspected individuals or known offenders, commercial establishments, storage facilities, and other areas prone to illicit activities. The focus is on uncovering contraband such as illegal liquor, weapons, explosives, drugs, unregistered merchandise, and unauthorized vehicles.
Furthermore, diligent efforts by new recruits in the districts have led to the identification and apprehension of suspicious individuals.
Emphasising the importance of public cooperation, the DGP highlighted that these operations are crucial measures undertaken by the police department to combat crime and address antisocial behaviour effectively. Citizens are urged to actively participate by reporting any suspicious activities or individuals to the local authorities via emergency hotlines 112 or 100, thus contributing to the collective effort to maintain public safety and security.
