Counting to be held in 49 centres: CEO Vikas Raj

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj on Friday said that all arrangements for the counting of votes have been completed. Counting will be set up in 49 centres in the State, 14 in Hyderabad on December 3. EVMs have been sealed and reached the strong rooms. They have been put under CCTV surveillance, Central Forces security and candidate representatives.
The State witnessed 71.34 per cent voting, which is 2 per cent less than 2018 Assembly elections, which was 73.4 per cent. In all, 79 constituencies had more than 75 per cent polling. Highest polled district is Munugode with 91.89 per cent and the lowest poll was in Yakutpura with 39.64 per cent.
In all, 17,066 counting tables and 131 postal ballots tables will be placed in the centres. Counting will start at 8 am with postal ballots followed by EVMs counting at 8:30 am. One counting supervisor, one micro observer and two counting assistants will be there for every table. Even after counting, EVMs will be counted twice.
“The smallest polling booth was put up in Devarakadra constituency, which has only 8 ST voters. In the Pinapaka constituency two polling booths were made for 21 and 23 voters,” he added.
For every counting centre three cordon security will be deployed. Inner layer will be the Central Forces, second layer will be the State Armed Reserve and outer layer will be State Police. In all, 40 companies of CAPF have been deployed for guarding the EVMs strong rooms and for counting.
The CEO said, “About 13,000 FIRs were booked in the State. In 2018, hardly 2,400 were booked. Polling went on till around 10 pm. We had removed more than 120 links from the reported social media as wrong narrative.”
“More than 1, 80,000 employees have voted in postal ballots which were shifting to their constituencies. More than 2 lakh people were directly deployed at the polling stations; 45,000 police staff from the State have been deployed; 3,803 sector officers, 1,251 flying squads, Static Surveillance Teams 1316 and Other Polling Officers 1,32,596 were deployed on November 30,” he said.
Vikas Raj said, “Total electorate which went for poll was 3,26,02,799. Among them males were 1,62,98,418 females were 1,63,01,705 and transgenders were 2,676”.
