Couple killed as car overturns

A couple was killed and two were injured when the car in which they were travelling overturned at Appanaveedu village in Pedapadu mandal on Sunday.

Police said that the deceased couple Mutta Satyanarayana and Suguna along with two family members went to Guntur to attend a marriage. After attending the marriage, they were going back to their native city Kakinada. Their car overturned after hitting a road divider. Suguna died on the spot while Suruyanarayana died while being taken to hospital. The injured were admitted to a private hospital in Eluru.

Meanwhile, in another accident, 9 pilgrims were injured when the SUV in which they were travelling rammed a stationery van at Sitampet village in Denduluru mandal on Sunday.

Police said that the injured persons were going to Vijayawada from Srikakulam to have darshan of goddess Kanaka Durga. All the injured were shifted to the government hospital.
