Crop loan waiver reflects Cong govt’s commitment to farm sector

In a landmark move, the Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government has announced a Rs. 31,000 crore loan waiver benefiting 39 lakh farmers. The decision has been hailed as a great relief for the farming community.
Shadnagar MLA Veerlapalli Shankar expressed his support for the loan waiver move at media conference at the Shadnagar on Sunday.
Shankar lauded the Congress government’s initiative, emphasising the profound impact it will have on the lives of millions of farmers. “The burden in the hearts of millions of farmers is removed,” Shankar stated, attributing this significant relief to the steadfast commitment of CM Revanth Reddy.
Shankar highlighted that the loan waiver up to Rs. 2 lakh per farmer has not only alleviated the financial stress but also bolstered the courage and hope among the farming community. He praised Revanth Reddy’s deep-rooted connection to agriculture, noting that the Chief Minister’s experience and empathy with the plight of farmers under the previous administration have driven this compassionate decision.
“This is the Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s government which is providing great relief to farmers,” Shankar remarked. He extolled the Congress government for recognizing farming as a noble profession and embodying the spirit of public welfare that believes in the essential role of farmers in the kingdom’s prosperity.
Drawing parallels to the past, Shankar recalled the UPA government’s simultaneous waiver of Rs. 72.000 crore, underscoring Congress’s longstanding commitment to the welfare of agricultural sector. He criticised the previous overnment for failing to fulfill its promises to the farmers, accusing it of neglect and unmet pledges over the last decade.
