“I will not feel any regret if I have to step down.”  “Yes, I am prepared to quit politics if the people reject me in the next elections”.  These statements were made by none other than Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who is advocating the why not 175, and the other one is former chief minister N  Chandra-babu Naidu, who strongly feels that the defeat of YS Jagan is certain.
Ahead of the crucial Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, why these two top leaders are making such statements is anybody’s guess. It appears that these two leaders have no self confidence over their victory and have confidence on the victory of their rival. It is a cent per cent fact after the coming Assembly elections retaining power by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy may reatain power or Chandrababu Naidu may again become the chief minister. Other than these two no one else is there for the Chief Minister’s post.
At this juncture, a few days ago in the educational summit at Tirupati, Jagan said that he does not have any regret if he has to step down at this point of time.” With this, Chandrababu and TDP leaders have started a campaign that Jagan has accepted his defeat and now he realised that the defeat of YSR Congress is inevitable in the coming Assembly elections. But the same Chandrababu gave a weapon to the YSR Congress with his unwanted statement. In an interview to a national electronic channel, Chandrababu said “Yes, I am prepared to quit politics if the people reject me in the coming Assembly elections. I am fighting on a genuine cause, if the people accept (YSR Congress) and think that it is not genuine, why should I bother about politics. I am very clear in this.” After this statement the YSR Congress leaders have started a acampaign that Chandrababu has realised about the defeat of the TDP and the Jana Sena alliance.
Meanwhile, the political circles feel that the both the present and former chief ministers are trying for emotional blackmail to get the sympathy from the people in the coming Assembly elections. In the emotional blackmailing, both are competing with each other, they feel.
