Dalit Bandu aimed at reducing poverty among SCs: Jagadish

Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy on Sunday pointed out that Dalit Bandhu, the brainchild of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, is aimed at reducing poverty and promoting entrepreneurship among the people belonging to Scheduled Castes. 

Participating in a community lunch at Mala Mahanadu Atmeeya Sammelanam in Suryapet, the Minister said that the Chief Minister took a bold decision to promote entrepreneurship among the Dalits. He recalled that the architect of the Constitution, Dr B R Ambedkar, strongly advocated for abolishing the caste system.  

Saying that education would bring light into the lives of people, the Minister recalled that Ambedkar said that education was not only the birthright of every human being but also a weapon of social change. The Chief Minister established more than 1,000 Gurukul Schools to fulfil the dreams of Ambedkar.

The State government, he said, was striving for the welfare of all sections of people. The government would pursue policies that were beneficial for the people and the State, he said. 

Municipal Chairperson P Annapurna, leaders Meka Venkannna, A Ravibabu, A Ramulu, Yasoda, Ashok, Kallepalli Maheswari, Balaram, Srinivas and others were present.
