In an age where religious differences are being used to spread hate across the country, a Sai Baba Mandir and a dargah that have been sharing a wall for decades in the heart of Hyderabad, set a heartwarming example for the world in the season of Ramzan.
Various communities gathered together on Wednesday evening on the fringe of the Sai Baba temple and Hazrath Syed Saadath Bani Hasham Dargah in Chaderghat to join hands in the iftar party organised by Freedom Again, a city-based NGO. The sight made a strong statement for universal brotherhood.
Mushir khan, founder of Freedom Again, said, “There are a lot of elements in the country right now that are trying to break down the love and affection between the communities. The idea of doing this iftar is to remind people to respond to them, which is not the reality. Right now, you can meet people coming from different backgrounds, because people know that brotherhood has always been alive and this will continue to be alive.”
The managements of both the religious establishments participated and shared time together in the iftar party. The local Ram Mandir pandit said that the evening is to set an example that these communities will continue to coexist peacefully, as they always have over the last several decades lived without any differences.
Zubair, a localite who participated in the iftar said, “Regardless of what certain people in power may try to say, our love towards our brothers and sisters in the Hindu community will continue to remain the same. This is a reminder to everyone to keep our differences aside and promote peace and harmony..”
The temple and the dargah have been sharing a premises over the last few decades. The iftar party has been held for the last 10 years. The community takes part in each other’s festivities and stands for fraternity as promised by the Constitution.
