The Government of Telangana has received approval for the establishment of a new medical college, the Government Medical College in Bhulapally, under the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, Warangal.
The college has been granted permission to admit 100 MBBS students for the academic year 2023-24 under Sections 26(1)(a)(b) and 28(1)(2) and Section 61(2) of the NMC Act, 2019.
On the occasion, Minister Harish Rao said, “Telangana govt is briskly moving forward in setting up one medical college per district towards CM KCR’s vision of Arogya Telangana. Delighted to share that, out of nine medical colleges to be started this year, six medical colleges already have got permissions, for Jangaon, Asifabad, Kamareddy, Khammam, Vikarabad, Bhupalpally. The approval process of Nirmal, Karimnagar and Sircilla Medical Colleges reached the final stage.”
The proposal was approved after the Secretary of Health, Medical & Family Welfare Department, Government of Telangana, provided an undertaking that all the deficiencies pointed out by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) will be rectified within three months.
The college will be responsible for fulfilling and maintaining all norms stipulated in the regulations of the National Medical Commission, including infrastructure, teaching faculty, and clinical material. The college must also develop a biometric attendance system and a website displaying all relevant information.
