Actress Nabha Natesh is gearing up to make a striking comeback to Tollywood with not one but two intriguing projects, each offering a distinct narrative and character arc. While one film, Swayambhu, sees her portraying a princess alongside actors Nikhil and Samyuktha Menon, the other, Darling, pairs her with Priyadarshi in a role that holds special significance for the actress.
The unveiling of Nabha’s first-look poster from Swayambhu has already created waves, with the actress exuding elegance and charm. These projects hold a special place in Nabha’s heart as they offer her roles that she has never explored before in her career, with Darling holding particular importance.
In conversation with The Pioneer, Nabha spoke candidly about her decision to take on these projects, emphasising her desire for diversity and novelty in her roles. She shared, “I have been on a hunt for the right kind of film for me for a long time. When I decided to come back and start making movies, I was 100 percent sure that I didn’t want to do the same stuff I had already done. I want to do something new because, first of all, I’ll be bored with myself. If I am not enjoying it, I am pretty sure that I can’t expect the audience to feel something really good about it.”
Regarding her choice to sign Darling first, Nabha expressed her enthusiasm for the script and her character, highlighting the extensive preparation she underwent to embody the role fully. “I signed Darling, because it has the best script I have heard,” she revealed, adding, “Writing for the girl in this movie, for me, is the best writing ever. I did a workshop for about a month, which helped me get into the character. Even release-wise, I think Darling will be coming first.”
As for Swayambhu, Nabha emphasised the allure of exploring a period film and portraying an extremely classical character, a departure from her previous roles. “My character has had a great journey. There is a part of transformation in my role in the film. I think both movies will have two different strong dimensions. It is going to show a facet of me as an actor,” she expressed.
Moreover, Nikhil learned martial arts, Samyuktha learned horseback riding for Swayambhu, and Nabha plays a classical dancer in the film, and it gets even easier for her and more efficient for the movie because the actress is already a trained classical dancer and is also perfect with horseback riding.
Reflecting on her growth as an artist, Nabha expressed her commitment to delivering her best performance yet. “In the last two years, with the training I have done and the content I have watched, I am coming with the best possible foot I can,” she affirmed.
Offers have always knocked on Nabha’s door, even when she was injured and was at home for two years. “I am only about 8 movies old in Telugu; I always had characters, and movies had the potential to impress the audience. But now I want Darling to release before I take up other projects. Because even for the audience and for filmmakers who haven’t seen me in movies for a long time, I want them to know what I can do and offer me the kind of potential work I can do justice to. As you grow, your ideas and approach to any art form will grow; it can only be shown. It can’t be spoken.”
How could we not ask about the viral video where Nabha gets offended by what Priyadarshi says during the promotional event of Darling? Nabha chose to take it in stride, focusing on the positive aspects of her collaboration with co-star Priyadarshi. She shared, “He is one of the finest artists the Telugu industry has seen so far. He is a very giving actor and a supporting artist. It has always been intense for me on the sets. It has been so comforting with him, and he was very accommodating to understand what I had to do in the film.”
