DC inspects inundated Eluru GGH

District Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh visited the Government General Hospital here on Tuesday and inspected the stagnated water on the hospital premises.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the GGH was constructed about 8 decades ago and the water stagnation is taking place often when there is heavy rain.
He said that steps were taken to drain out the water stagnated on the GGH premises using motors.
The Collector said that he would send proposals to the government to resolve the problems permanently.
Later talking to the media persons, the Collector said that heavy rains might lash the district during the next two days under the influence of the Michaug cyclone.
“The official machinery has been put on high alert in the district to avoid loss of life and property. People living at low-lying areas are being shifted to the safer places for which Rapid Action Teams were formed comprising Tahsildars, MPDOs and other officials,” the Collector said.
The teams monitor the removal of uprooted trees and shifting people to safer places and providing transport to them and sanitation in the rain-affected areas.
Collector Venkatesh said: “Till Monday, one lakh metric tonnes of paddy produce has been purchased from the farmers and another 10,000 metric tonnes of paddy has also been procured. The farmers can sell their paddy produce at the RBKs,” The Collector made it clear, adding that the farmers need not worry about selling their paddy produce.
Municipal Commissioner S Venkat Krishna, RDO SK Khajavali, district hospital services coordinating officer Pal Satish Kumar, and hospital superintendent A Vijay were among those who accompanied the Collector.
