The Drug Control Administration (DCA) on March 30 seized Ayurvedic medicines over misleading advertisements claiming to aid in ‘breast enhancement and firming’.
DCA officials of Patancheru Zone detected ‘Ashwagandha Churnam’, manufactured and marketed by Dwibhashi Bapanna Ayurvedic Nilayam Pvt. Ltd. The label of the product bears a misleading claim stating that it ‘reduces blood sugar levels’.
Stocks of the medicines were seized during the raid carried out at a medical shop in Ameenpur village in Sangareddy district.
In Medchal, the DCA officials detected ‘Shape up breast cream’, manufactured by Ayurgen Herbals. The label of the product bears a misleading claim stating that it aids in ‘breast enhancement and firming’ and also detected ‘AyurDia diabetic capsules’ manufactured by Ayurgen Herbals.
The label of the product claimed that it treats ‘diabetes’. Stocks of the medicines were seized during the raid carried out at the manufacturing site of Ayurgen Herbals.

“Advertising a medicine for the treatment of ‘Diabetes’ and for altering the ‘Forms and structure of the female bust’ is prohibited under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.” said the DCA.
