The Telangana Drug Control Administration on Saturday seized medicines with misleading claims, asserting that they would cure fever.
In a raid conducted at a medical store at Nampally, the officials seized ‘ Suppol Baby Suppositories’ , an allopathic medicine.
Fever is a symptom, typically indicating that the body is fighting off an infection or some other underlying condition. Medicines such as paracetamol can help alleviate discomfort associated with fever, however they do not directly address the underlying cause of the fever,” the DCA said.
The medicine, ‘Suppol Baby Suppositories’ was found to be violating the provisions of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertis ement) Act, 1954. The DCA seized stocks of the medicine and is further investigating the matter.
