Mudragada Padmanabham, former minister and prominent leader of the Kapu community, expressed his opinion that Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan should have aimed for 80 Assembly seats and a two-year term as Chief Minister from the Telugu Desam Party.
In an open letter addressed to Pawan Kalyan on Thursday, Padmanabham conveyed the sentiment of the people, stating their desire to see Pawan Kalyan assume the role of Chief Minister.
During Chandrababu Naidu’s jail period, fear gripped TDP cadre and leaders, confining them to their homes.
“When the TDP faced adversity, your visit to the prison to uplift their spirits was significant. Your actions notably bolstered the popularity of the TDP,” remarked Mudragada.
“It would have been prudent, in line with the public’s wishes, for you to negotiate for 80 Assembly seats and the Chief Minister’s position for the initial two years,” he said.
Mudragada Padmanabham expressed his desire to collaborate with Pawan Kalyan to usher in a new political era, regretting the missed opportunity.
Alleging a broken promise, he mentioned Pawan Kalyan’s assurance of a meeting in Kirlampudi following his visit to Ayodhya, which did not materialize.
“I had hoped to contribute to a new political dawn alongside you, but unfortunately, circumstances did not permit. Throughout my 40-year political career, I have never sought power or financial gain from any leader or party,” he affirmed.
Acknowledging his lack of charisma compared to Pawan Kalyan, Padmanabham lamented the perceived disregard, suggesting the need for approval before taking action.
He concluded with a plea to divine intervention, expressing his belief that Pawan Kalyan’s success wouldn’t depend on his assistance in the specified 24 Assembly constituencies.
