A woman, who went to the Kamala Nehru Government Hospital at Nagarjuna Sagar after going into labour, lost her baby as the doctors waited long expecting that the woman would have normal childbirth. The alleged negligence led to the of the baby. The condition of the woman was stated to the very critical.
According to reports, a woman, identified as Vindhya, in her advanced stage of pregnancy, visited the hospital for delivery. The doctors there examined the woman and advised surgery. But, her relatives insisted on a normal delivery.
While conducting the normal delivery, the pulse rate of the baby plummeted. The doctor became jittery and referred the woman to a hospital at Nalgonda. Upon conducting the delivery there, the baby died.
Relatives of the woman paraded the body of the baby in front of Kamala Nehru Hospital and demanded the suspension of the doctors. The police rushed to the hospital and convinced the protesters to withdraw their agitation. The police were deployed in strength in front of the hospital.
The hospital Superintendent, when sought for her clarification, said that Vindhya was brought to the hospital for delivery. Upon examining her, the hospital doctors advised her to undergo surgery. However, her relatives insisted on normal delivery. The doctors told the relatives that it would be difficult for the baby to survive. Yet, the relatives insisted on normal delivery. While conducting the normal delivery, there rose a problem in taking the baby out. As the hospital is not adequately equipped, the woman was referred to another hospital. The hospital Superintendent denied any negligence on the part of the doctors.
