Decision Support System (DSS) tool has been developed as a part of Forest Plus 2.0 programme in a joint partnership with USAID and Central Department of Forest and Environment. The programme is being implemented under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to undertake social development through forest development sustainable management.

Through this new software tool, farmers, various departments and organisations can know which saplings to plant and which crops to grow in their farm lands. The main objective of this programme is to strengthen the ecosystem through forest management and to provide sources of income to the people as part of which USAID will work towards forest development by December 2023.

Go to the area where the crops or saplings are to be planted and open this tool on the mobile and GPS. By turning on the system, it determines which saplings to plant or grow crops on that land. Also, this tool will store complete details of the plants along with the list of plants to grow.

While launching the new app, Forest and Environment Minister Indrakaran Reddy has said that the Forest Department is taking steps to provide financial support to the farmers and the lower classes who depend on it for the development of the forest area with the help of technology. As part of the Decision Support System (DSS), Agroforestry Tool and Sharing of Landscape Management Planning and Working Plan Manual was formally launched on Friday.

Chief of Politics and Economics, US Consulate, Hyderabad, Shaun Ruth, Forest Department Special CS Shantikumari, PCCF and HoFF RM Dobrial, PCCF and CEO (Compa) Lokesh Jaiswal, USAID (India) Senior Forestry Advisor Varghese Paul, Forest Plus 2.0 Chief of Party Ujwal Pradhan, Medak Additional Collector Pratima Singh, Forest Plus Regional Director G Sailu, Circle Heads of Forest Department and Forest Officers of all districts participated.
