Popularly known for his iconic dialogues, Sai Kumar has completed 50 years of his illustrious journey in films. He debuted as a child artiste with the film Devudu Chesina Pelli, which was released on January 9, 1975. Since then, he has never looked back, continuing to act as a lead actor, character artiste, and hosting numerous TV shows.
Sai Kumar is extremely popular for his police films like Police Story, Agni IPS, Police Story 2 and Central Jail. His dialogues from these cop films are still widely popular and often referenced. In addition to his acting career, Sai Kumar is also a renowned dubbing artist, having lent his voice to actors Rajasekhar and Suman in many films.
Born to a family of artists, Sai Kumar’s father, PJ Sharma, was a dubbing artist and actor, while his mother, Krishna Jyothi, was a renowned actress in the Kannada film industry. Although Kannada is his mother tongue, Sai Kumar has made a distinct mark in the South Indian film industry.
Sai Kumar earned recognition as a great actor with the movie Sneham, directed by Bapu. He has acted in numerous evergreen films in both Kannada and Telugu. In 2006, he won the Nandi Award for Best Villain for his role in Samanyudu and again in 2010, he won the Nandi Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Prasthanam. He also won Filmfare Awards for his acting in Samanyudu, Prasthanam and Rang Tarang.
Despite completing 50 years as an actor, Sai Kumar continues to be part of numerous high-profile projects, keeping him as one of the busiest actors in the industry. His son, Aadi Sai Kumar, is also an actor and busy with films.
