Diarrhoea is spreading in the town of Chennur. For the past three days, several areas in the town have seen a rise in cases of vomiting and diarrhoea, with many rushing to local government and private hospitals. Doctors at the Chennur Government Hospital have reported that at least 50 patients suffering from vomiting and diarrhoea have been receiving treatment. Additionally, there have been a significant number of people seeking treatment at private hospitals. The drinking water supply to several areas of the town is coming from the Bhatukamma stream located near Chennir. Moreover, some areas are being supplied with drinking water through the Mission Bhagiratha pipeline. Since the water supplied through Bhagiratha is not very clean, locals are avoiding using it for drinking purposes. Previously, drinking water was supplied to some areas through the pipes installed near the sump of the Bhatukamma stream. There is growing suspicion that the water being supplied from the Bhatukamma stream is contaminated. It seems that locals are suffering from vomiting and diarrhoea after consuming this water.
