Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated the DigiYatra app at Visakhapatnam Airport on Friday. The innovative app streamlines airport procedures, enabling passengers to enter the terminal in just five seconds, a substantial reduction from traditional processing times.
Minister Naidu expressed his enthusiasm for the app’s potential to enhance the passenger experience. “The DigiYatra facility offers a seamless and contactless journey, significantly improving the efficiency of air travel,” he stated. The app is part of a broader initiative to modernise airport infrastructure and provide a more convenient and secure travel experience.
The DigiYatra app has already been implemented at 15 airports across India, with plans to expand its reach to nine more in the near future. The app’s user-friendly interface and efficient functionality have contributed to its growing popularity, with over three crore users to date.
Minister Naidu emphasised the app’s commitment to data security. “We are dedicated to protecting passenger privacy and ensuring a safe and secure travel environment,” he said. The government’s goal is to eventually extend the DigiYatra system to all airports in India.
