Around 10 to 15 women from old Hafeezpet came to Prajavani programme in Praja Bhavan to enquire about 2-BHK houses, for which they applied in Indiramma Indlu scheme.
For many years, these women have been coming to Praja Bhavan in Begaumpet to verify their status in the scheme, but still they have not got any call from the officials and not even a single official came to their house to verify their eligibility till now.
The Prajavani programme was conducted at the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Praja Bhavan on Friday. Distressed women came here to verify their status of their applications.
“We have applied for the house under Indiramma Indlu, but after seven years not even a single official came to our house to verify our eligibility. Here officials say that we will get a call from the concerned officials, but we are not getting the calls also”, said Old Hafeezpet resident Mahabooba Begaum.
Another old Hafeezpet resident Swapna, said “Eligible people are not getting homes from the government, yet, people coming from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and other neighbouring states are getting houses under this scheme. People who are salaried are also getting these houses”.
“Women in Old Hafeezpet are working as daily wagers, tailors and some of them are housewives, staying in single BHK by paying Rs 10 to 12,000 per month and it’s very difficult for them to survive in a rented house. So, they are knocking the doors of Prajavani having a dream of their own house.
“Staying in a rented house by paying more money, it’s been difficult for us. So, please provide us our own house under the scheme”, said another resident Vimala bai. On Friday, Prajavani programme received 570 applications, 268 were pertaining to SC Welfare department, 77 were pertaining to Minority Welfare, 57 were pertaining to revenue department, 47 were of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, 28 were pertaining to Electricity board and 93 were filed in connection with other departments.
