Domodar directs officials to be on alert

Health Minister Damodar Raja Narsimha has called upon the officials to implement measures to prevent loss of life and loss to property due to floods triggered by the incessant rains lashing the district.
He, along with district Collector Kranti Valluru, former MLA and TPCC working president Jagga Reddy, inspected Manjeera barrage in Sangareddy mandal, near here on Monday. He asked the officials to shift the people living in old and dilapidated buildings to safer places. The officials told the Minister that they had evacuated people living in dilapidated structures at Andole, Nyalkal, Bollaram and other mandals.
The irrigation department officials raised gates to discharge the water downstream. In fact, the storage capacity of the barrage is 1.5 tmc ft.
Inflow into the barrage is measured at 2,300 cusecs, while outflow was 3,100 cusecs. The minister asked the officials to alert the people living in catchment areas of the barrage about the discharge of water.
The officials told the Minister that a special control room has been set up at the Collectorate to provide relief and rescue operations.
Another control room has been set up in the office of the Superintending Engineer of the Electricity Department. As the inflows into tanks and ponds is heavy, the minister asked the irrigation authorities to implement all precautions.
He urged the the police to ensure that the people do not go near the tanks and streams and erect barricades. The minister asked the people to remain alert as there is rain threat during the next 48 hours and advised the people not to go out of their houses unless it is absolutely necessary.

The minister promised to take steps to extend compensation to the damaged crops and houses due to rains.
