Dr BR Ambedkar Bhavan to be developed as community hall Minister Kollu Ravindra asks officials to prepare a design

Minister for Mines & Geology and Excise Kollu Ravindra has announced that he will be launching developmental works by constructing Dr BR Ambedkar Bhavan as a Multipurpose Community Hall in Machilipatnam constituency. He said he would strive to bring funds from the State and Central governments for the community hall construction. Also, he directed the Social Welfare Department officials to prepare a design.
He inspected the dilapidated Dr BR Ambedkar Bhavan at the district court centre in Machilipatnam on Sunday. He asked the officials why the building remained neglected in the past five years.
Speaking to the media later, he said that the Dr BR Ambedkar Bhavan was constructed 25 years ago. During the tenure of the TDP government between 2014 and 2019, Rs.5 crore was sanctioned for the renovation of the building. However, the YSRCP government cancelled the GO sanctioning funds, he alleged.
He alleged that former minister Perni Venkatramaiah alias Nani neglected the Ambedkar Bhavan during his period. The YSRCP leaders always gave priority to the construction of their party offices to gain commissions. Though Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Bala Shoury (previously he was in YSRCP and now in JSP) assured of allocating MPLADS, Perni Nani refused. As a result, Machilipatnam Municipal Corporation officials did not take any steps in this regard, he said.
“Our government will develop the Ambedkar Bhavan as a Multipurpose Community Hall. For that, we will bring funds from State and Central governments, besides Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. The building will be developed to conduct meetings and functions. It will have a library and a study circle along with sufficient parking facilities,” Ravindra said.
Jana Sena Party leader Bandi Ramakrishna, Machilipatnam former Municipal Chairman M Baba Prasad, AMC ex-Chairman G Satyam, Social Welfare Department Deputy Director Shahid Babu and others accompanied Minister Ravindra.
