YSRCP MLA and former minister Balineni Srinvasa Reddy reiterated his assurance of resolving the drinking water crisis of the city and providing a house to the houseless poor.

The former minister participated in the ‘Jagananna Suraksha’ programme here on Monday. Balineni gave away certificates and documents to the applicants.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that Rs 370 crore was sanctioned to provide drinking water to Ongole city. If the drinking water project is completed, the drinking water crisis would be resolved.

The people used to be forced to go from pillar to post to get needed certificates and documents to get the benefits of various welfare schemes but now all the documents and certificates are being issued during the Jagananna suraksha camps, he claimed.

He said that land was acquired for the distribution of house sites to the poor at Yarajarla village but the Opposition TDP approached the court on the land against the acquisition, he criticised. Balineni promised to distribute land pattas to 28,000 poor soon for which land was acquired by spending Rs 200 crore.

Dismissing allegations made by Jana Sena chief K Pawan Kalyan on the volunteers, Balineni said that it is not proper to Pawan Kalyan making such unfounded allegations. Ignoring the services being extended by the volunteers making baseless allegations against them is not fair to Pawan Kalya, he slammed.

Balineni Srinivasa Reddy said that Dial your MLA programme would be organised soon giving an opportunity to the people to inform their problems to the MLA with the cooperation of Satya cable and V cable. This dial your MLA programme would be held every fortnight, he stated. City mayor G Sujata and corporators were present.
