Prakasam district Superintendent of Police (SP), AR Damodhar, has said that the Police department is leveraging advanced technology to improve criminal investigations and ensure efficient policing. He emphasised the significant role drone cameras play in achieving these objectives.
An advanced drone, DJI Air 3S, was donated to the Prakasam police by NRI Tanikonda Venkata Rao. The SP handed over the drone to Darsi Circle Inspector (CI) Y. Rama Rao at a programme held on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Damodhar highlighted the multiple uses of drone cameras in policing. He expressed gratitude to the donor and his family for their generous contribution.
The SP explained that drone cameras are instrumental in regulating traffic during events like ‘jatara’ and processions, as well as during emergencies such as floods and heavy rains. They aid in assessing the situation promptly, facilitating effective relief and rescue operations.
Additionally, drones assist in identifying activities like the brewing of illicit liquor in remote areas, illegal gambling dens, and the consumption of liquor in public places.
CI Y. Rama Rao, IT Core Inspector Suryanarayana, Darshi Sub-Inspector (SI) Murali, and PCR SI Prabhakar Reddy were present on the occasion.
