Drugs have no place in society: CP Tarun Joshi

Commissioner of Police Tarun Joshi stated that we will put an end to the transportation and consumption of drugs in the jurisdiction of Rachakonda Commissionerate. He spoke during a training programme organised for Rachakonda police personnel on the procedures to be followed in the investigation of prohibited drug cases at the Rachakonda office in Neredmet on Wednesday.
The Commissioner said the use of prohibited drugs is like a pest in society which needs to be eradicated. Drugs are destroying the physical and mental health of the youth. He stated that due to the use of prohibited drugs, many road accidents are also happening and families are being broken. Parents are advised to take precautions so that children do not ruin their lives by seeing them in different types of social media and movies and get attracted towards using drugs.
He suggested that the investigating officers have a thorough understanding of the implementation of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
He said that cases should be registered against drug supply gangs, investigation procedures should be followed as per NDPS Act-1995, and maximum punishment should be given to the criminals. The officials were directed to take strict measures to curb drug trafficking and consumption.
In addition to the regular inspections at the check posts, special SOT teams have conducted operations, and many cases have been registered against the supply gangs of ganja, opium, heroin and other prohibited drugs. The inter-State gangs supplying drugs should be suppressed and cases should be registered against them under the PD Act. The CP stated that many raids are being conducted on the transportation of narcotics. Many people have been arrested and strict action is being taken. He emphasised the authorities to conduct a campaign in colleges to create awareness about the dangers of drug use among the youth.
DCP Crime Arvind Babu, Customs and Excise Appellate Tribunal representative Ranganatham, ACP CCRB Ramesh, IT Cell ACP Narender Goud, Inspectors and other officials participated in the programme.
