A sons’ stroke has hit former PCC president Dharmapuri Srinivas (DS) who is suffering from a brain-stroke he had recently, as his sons, D. Sanjay and D. Arvind, have conflicting opinions on DS’ re-joining the Congress.
The elder son, D. Sanjay, took his father DS to Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday where he joined the Congress.
Before going to Gandhi Bhavan, a letter was released in the name of DS saying that he is not joining the Congress but only accompanying his son D. Sanjay to the Gandhi Bhavan to bless him during his joining.
However, Congress leaders offered the Congress shawl to DS and announced that DS had joined the Congress. Before a day was over, DS released another letter stating, “On the occasion of my son Dharmapuri Sanjay re-joining the Congress on March 26, I went to Gandhi Bhavan to give him my blessings. But they offered me a Congress shawl, and there was a campaign in the media that I too had re-joined the party. I have always been a Congress supporter, but now I want to stay away from politics due to my age and medical problems. There is no point in linking my joining the Congress with my son Sanjay’s ticket.
We know that the allotment of party tickets is done according to rules, conventions and public opinion. I request you not to get me embroiled in controversies as I want to stay away from politics. I request you to consider and accept this letter as my resignation if you think that I have re-joined the Congress.”
DS’ wife Vijayalaxmi released another letter stating, “This is the resignation of DS! This is not the time for politicking. This is also not the way to induct him into the party. He (DS) had a brain stroke and is paralysed. Please don’t use him for your politics. He (DS) had fits last night due to the stress you gave him on Sunday. I am appealing to Congress leaders, don’t come here again. Let him live peacefully as he is having serious medical problems.”
However, D. Sanjay said that his father faces a threat to his life from his brother Arvind. Sanjay said that Arvind made DS resign from the Congress forcibly.
“My brother is blackmailing my father and forcing him to write letters. What can Arvind lose if dad joins the Congress? The resignation of DS is a BJP conspiracy. BJP MP Arvind, who is in New Delhi, is behind this. I thought that I would organise a public meeting in Nizamabad. I did not expect my brother Arvind to do this. My mother doesn’t know anything and she listens to Arvind. I will file a complaint if there is no response from Arvind,” said Sanjay.
Arvind has not responded to the allegations made by Sanjay.
TPCC asks DGP, CP to provide security to DS
TPCC Senior Vice-President G. Niranjan sent a letter to DGP Anjani Kumar and City Police Commissioner CV Anand requesting THEM to provide security to former PCC president D. Srinivas to safeguard his life.
In his letter, Niranjan said, “The video clipping of D. Srinivas showing him talking to his son D. Sanjay which is being circulated in the media, indicates that DS is facing harassment. As DS himself has mentioned the harassment and the health bulletin issued by the city Neuro Hospital mentioned that he is suffering from a brain problem and should be kept away from stressful situations, we request you to provide security to DS as there is a threat to his life from his family. As per my knowledge, there is no pressure from Congress on him to join the party. He himself wanted to join the Congress last year. The fight within his family is not allowing him to act as per his choice. He is a public man and as there is a threat to his life from his own family, we want the police to protect his life.”
