Durga temple nets record Rs.54.09 lakh in one day

As devotees thronged the Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri during the past three days, the temple earned a record income of Rs.54.09 lakh in one day, i.e., June 16 (Sunday). Around 2,800 Antharalaya tickets were sold by 3 pm, which was another record, said Durga Temple Executive Officer (EO) KS Rama Rao. In the past three days, the temple earned an income of Rs.1.27 crore.
According to KS Rama Rao, the temple earned Rs.54.09 lakh income by 6.30 pm, of which, Rs.33.40 lakh came from the darshan ticket sales. Of this, Rs.16.18 lakh came from Rs.500 tickets (3,236), Rs.8.26 lakh from the Rs.300 tickets (2,755), Rs.9.01 lakh income from Rs.100 tickets (9,013), Rs.68,749 from Laddu Prasadam, Rs.29,853 from the Pulihora and Rs.2.07 lakh through donations, he said.
On Saturday (June 15), the temple earned an income of Rs.33.39 lakh, of which Rs.16.82 lakh came from the darshan ticket sales, EO Rao said. Similarly, Rs.39.74 lakh income came on June 14 (Friday). Apart from the darshan tickets, Laddu Prasadam, and Pulihora sales also increased, he said. The other income was through donations received by around Rs.10 lakh, he explained.
Minister Satya Kumar and Supreme Court Judge Justice Mishra visited the Durga temple.
On Sunday, a large number of devotees including VVIPs had darshan at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam. They included Minister for Health, Medical and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav and Supreme Court Judge Justice Prashanth Kumar Mishra and others.
Minister Satya Kumar Yadav assumed the chair at the Secretariat at Velagapudi on Sunday. Before that, he, along with the family members, visited the Durga temple. EO Rama Rao accorded them a warm welcome as per temple tradition. Also, the temple authorities welcomed Justice Prashanth Kumar Mishra.

Later, the Vedic scholars gave blessings to the minister and the judge at the Veda Ashirvachana Mandapam. EO Rama Rao presented them with Sesha Vastrams, Laddu Prasadam and Durga Devi’s portraits.
