The launch of the pension distribution programme in Mentada mandal marked a milestone in fulfilling welfare promises. Beneficiaries witnessed the distribution of new pensions and increased pension amounts during the programme held at the Mandal Parishad office.
In addition to the pension programme, the Ministers inaugurated the Grama Secretariat building, constructed at a cost of Rs 40 lakh, and unveiled statues of Mahatma Gandhi (Bapuji) and Bharat Ratna BR Ambedkar on the premises. The event also included the inauguration of a primary health centre in Challapet village, built at a cost of Rs 73 lakh, and laying the foundation stone for a laboratory building estimated at Rs.50 lakhs.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Rajanna Dora underscored the government’s commitment to inclusivity, citing the increase in the number of pensioners from 6509 to 7797. He highlighted the reduction in the age threshold for pension eligibility from 65 to 60 years during Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure.
Notably, disability criteria were adjusted from 80 per cent to 40 per cent, benefiting a significant population. Rajannadora pointed out the enhanced land and income limits, resulting in widespread benefits for many people.
Drawing a contrast with the previous TDP government, Rajannadora applauded Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy for disbursing pensions on the 1st of every month.
He criticized former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for unfulfilled promises, emphasizing the successful implementation of Jagan’s commitments.
Education Minister Botsa Satyanarayana echoed the praise for Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, noting the fulfilment of promises, including the increase in the pension to Rs 3 thousand.
He emphasized the implementation of welfare schemes for women, aiming to uphold their self-esteem. Minister Satyanarayana challenged anyone to identify an assembly member who had not proposed at least one scheme.
Zilla Parishad Chairman Majji Srinivasa Rao lauded Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy as the leader who resonates most with the people since late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
He highlighted the state’s distinction in providing the highest standard of pensions compared to other states.
Rao commended the government’s simultaneous focus on large-scale development programs alongside welfare initiatives. Several dignitaries, including MLC Indukuri Raghuraju, Joint Collector Mayur Ashok, and Mentada MPP Reddy Sanyasinayudu, were present at the event, underscoring the significance of the welfare initiatives and development projects unveiled in Mentada mandal.
