Responding to the intrusion of Medchal Deputy Tahsildar Anand Kumar Reddy into her residence at 11.30 pm two days ago, Smitha Sabharwal, the CM’s Secretary, Tweeted at 10 am on January 22, “Last night, an intruder broke into my house. I had the presence of mind to deal with him and managed to save my life. Lessons: No matter how secure you think you are always check doors and locks. Dial 100 in an emergency.”

Smitha Sabharwal, an IAS officer, holds additional charge as Secretary of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department (Mission Bhagiratha Department).

The intrusion of Deputy Tahsildar Anand Kumar Reddy into Smitha Sabarwal’s house created a sensation among the public. Smitha shouted at Anand Kumar Reddy when she saw him and alerted her guard who caught him.

The DT was arrested and remanded to custody along with his friend, the owner of a hotel.

The police kept the incident a secret for two days. The reasons for that are not known but the incident took place in a gated community in the Jubilee Hills area of Hyderabad.

In fact, it is learnt that the Deputy Tehsildar (DT) re-tweeted the tweets of Smitha Sabharwal who is active on social media, once or twice.

Anand Kumar Reddy entered the gated community where Smitha Sabharwal stays along with his friend.

The security guards of the gated community allowed the DT in without questioning him as he told them the number of Smitha Sabharwal’s quarters. The DT came to Smitha’s residence keeping his friend in the car. He entered her house by opening the sliding door.

Smitha was shocked seeing the unknown person (DT) and asked him loudly, “Who are you? Why did you come?”

The DT responded that he had re-Tweeted her tweets on some occasions in the past and had come to speak about his job.

Smitha asked him to go out. The security guard caught the DT and handed him over to the police. The police seized the car and the DT and his friend was remanded to custody.

The DT later said that he had gone to Smitha Sabharwal’s residence only to speak about his job. But it is not clear why the DT went at 11.30 pm instead of going during the day and without taking her appointment.

There is also no clarity on why the police kept the incident a secret and why Smitha kept silent for two days and responded only after two days.

Responding to the incident, TPCC President Revanth Reddy re-Tweeted the Tweet of Smitha Sabharwal saying, “This is the result of minimum governance and maximum politics under KCR. Not only the six-year-old girl of Singareni Colony, but even a lady IAS officer working in the Chief Minister’s Office has no security under the KCR government. Girls, be alert!”
