Special Investigation Team (SIT) chief IG Vineet Brijlal has said that police personnel have already been sent to areas affected by post-election attacks in the State.
At a meeting with DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, lasting approximately 30 minutes, Vineet briefed on the SIT teams’ deployment to the riot-affected areas. They are reviewing existing FIRs and determining whether amendments are needed or new filings are warranted.
Any delays in filing cases will be addressed promptly through the registration of new FIRs, followed by a rigorous review of investigative progress and subsequent arrests.
The DGP will be regularly apprised of the SIT’s advancements.
Collaborating closely with forensic experts and examining filed FIRs, the SIT vows to file additional reports where necessary. Stressing the urgency of the matter, Brijlal said that every effort is being made to expedite the investigation process and bring the culprits to justice. Regular updates are being dispatched to the Election Commission, and the thorough examination of all available evidence, including CCTV footage, is underway, with significant progress expected within two days.
Headed by IG Vineet Brijlal, a 13-member SIT has been operational since Friday night. Tasked with investigating disturbances in three districts—Palnadu, Anantapur, and Tirupati—the teams are concentrating on hotspots such as Tadipatri, Macharla, Gurjala, Narasaraopeta, Sattenapalli, and Tirupati. Furthermore, the involvement of police officials in the violence is under scrutiny, with prompt disposal of related FIRs being prioritised.
In parallel, the suspended SP Bindu Madhav is undergoing interrogation, having met with SIT Chief Vineet Brijlal. An inquiry is underway into the disturbances and violence involving TDP leaders in the Palnadu district, focusing on incidents in Gurazala, Macherla, Narasaraopet, and Sattenapalli.
