Must read

NTR District Collector Dr G Lakshmisha emphasised the need for collective responsibility in ensuring road safety at the closing ceremony of the 36th National Road Safety Month held at the NGO Home in Gandhinagar on Saturday. He urged citizens to adopt discipline in road usage and suggested making helmet-wearing a fashion trend.
Dr Lakshmisha highlighted the devastating impact of road accidents on families and cautioned that even cautious drivers are not immune to mishaps. He noted that the transport and police departments are conducting awareness campaigns and have identified accident-prone areas for improvement. However, he expressed concern over reckless behaviour that continues to cause avoidable accidents.
As part of awareness efforts, college students participated in discussions on helmet use for two-wheeler riders. Dr Lakshmisha stressed the goal of 100% helmet compliance through educational initiatives and directed the transport and police departments to take legal action against violators.
Deputy Transport Commissioner A Mohan underscored the importance of helmets for public safety, warning that negligence could cost lives. He urged students to spread awareness on social media.
AP NGO Secretary Vidyasagar A pointed out that even in poorer countries, vehicle operators follow road discipline better than in India. He urged government employees and pensioners to set an example by wearing helmets.
Awards and certificates were presented to officials, students, and media representatives for their contributions to road safety awareness. Several government officials attended the event, reaffirming their commitment to making NTR District accident-free.
