The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) on Saturday observed World Bicycle Day. A bicycle rally was organised as part of the celebration.
The rally was led by Professor E Suresh Kumar, the Vice-Chancellor of EFLU, along with students, faculty, and non-teaching staff. The objective of the rally was to promote a healthy lifestyle. The rally went around the campus in order to create awareness among students.
Stressing on a healthy lifestyle, Kumar said, “EFLU has made bicycles available on the campus for the students, staff, and faculty to commute between different facilities. It is important to adopt healthy lifestyle practices to reduce the growing incidence of lifestyle-related diseases and promote increased physical activities among the youth.”’
“Increased use of bicycles and avoiding motor vehicles will also contribute to the sustainable environment by reducing pollution,” he added. The rally was also taken out as part of the initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, to promote physical fitness across the country.
