Eluru dist receives Rs 26.42 cr under ‘Vidya Deevana’

Eluru district has received Rs 26,42,23,737 under the ‘Jagananna Vidya Deevena’ scheme.
Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy released Rs 708.68 crore towards the ‘Jagananna Vidya Deevena’ scheme on Friday at a programme organised at Pamarru in Krishna district for total fee reimbursement for the quarter October-December, 2023. The amount would be directly credited into the joint bank accounts of 9, 44,666 students and their mothers.
A programme was organized on the occasion of the disbursement of the Vidya Deevena amount here on Friday. District Collector Prasanna Venkatesh released a replica of the cheque. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that 32,452 students were being disbursed Rs 26,42,23,737 under the Vidya Deevena scheme and the amount was being credited into the joint accounts of students and their mothers. The fee reimbursement for the quarter of October-December, 2023, the Collector stated.
The Collector said that the Jagananna Vidya Deevena scheme provides an opportunity to the poor students, who are eligible for higher education but who are studying ITI, polytechnic and degree to pursue higher studies.
The Collector exhorted the students to excel in education and reach heights using the welfare schemes being implemented by the state government. Social Welfare JD Jayaprakash, district BC welfare officer RV Nagamani and minority welfare officer Srinivasa Rao were among those who were present.
