The employees’ union leaders who launched their agitation on Thursday as per the schedule announced earlier said that there is a lack of clarity on the written assurance given by the State government on the employees’ long-pending issues. They made it clear that as there is no clarity in the written assurance given by the government they have begun their agitation and will continue till April 5.
Speaking on the occasion, AP JAC Amaravati president Bopparaju Venkateswarulu recalled that after the meeting on Tuesday with the Group of Ministers, State Advisor (Public Affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said, “Employees are a part of the government and YSRCP is committed to resolving all their grievances. We are going to clear Rs 3,000 crore pending dues by March 31.”
Stating that issues can be resolved through talks only, Sajjala said the Group of Ministers would always keep its doors open for its employees. Admitting that employees are dissatisfied as the government could not meet their demands because of the precarious finances due to Covid, he said the government would take care of their welfare.
Boppana pointed out that the GoM did not mention anything about the long-pending demand for the cancellation of CPS, anywhere in the minutes of the State government. He also said that the government ignored the long-pending issues of contract employees’ regularisation, the government did not even mention that they are in the process to regularise the services of the contract employees in its letter. He further said that there is no mention of the salaries of outsourcing employees in the State.
He said that on March 16 there is a meeting with the State Chief Secretary and other State officials as per the minutes on issues like EHS and PRC arrears and have to wait and see, he said.
As per the revised agitation schedule, employees’ support will be sought at government offices on March 17 and 20. From March 21 to April 5 a ‘work tour’ programme would be organised. On March 27, members of families waiting for appointments on compassionate grounds would be visited.
Bopparaju said that if the government does not take the initiative to solve the problems of the employees, they will organise a meeting on April 5 on the future course of action.
